The play was written by Alan Ball (American Beauty, Six Feet Under) and will be directed by Chip Chalmers (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Melrose Place)

It is a comedy set during a wedding reception in Knoxville, Tennessee, where five bridesmaids have found refuge in an upstairs bedroom. Each woman is different, but by the conclusion of the play each has grown due to the interaction they have experienced.

The women are:

Frances, 21, the youngest and a fundamentalist Christian;

Meredith, 22, in whose bedroom the action transpires;

Georgeanne, 29, who is in a troubled marriage;

Mindy, 34, the groom's lesbian sister

Trisha, 32, who has had a series of bad relationships.

Throw into the mix, one man:

Tripp, 31, a handsome guy with mind to match wits with Trisha.

NOTES

The ages will be cast very close to what is outlined above. PLEASE have read the play before auditioning and have a good idea of a role or two in which you might be interested. However, be ready to read sides from all roles. Please, you don’t need to bring prepared material such as a monologue. We will simply be having one, two or three of you read together from the play.

*Please note that, as you will read, the role of Meredith will be topless for a brief portion of the play. If you have ANY reservations about this, do not sign up for that role. (Just fair warning)
