No monologues will be heard, but a cold reading of a scene from the play
will be required. Scenes will be available to download prior to the auditions.
Since this is a musical two more components of the audition will be required
1) 16 bars of a song - Bring sheet music to a Broadway song that shows
off your greatest range.
No Sondheim (remember the accompanist is sight reading-make it easier
for her and it sounds better for you). (If you don’t know any Broadway
songs, and you have the sheet music for another song, that will be allowed
as long as it is more than monotone)
2) A dance audition-the choreographer will teach
you a combination. If you have no dance training, have no fear, this is
to see if you can move and remember steps in a sequence.
You will also be asked about your availability for rehearsals so bring
your calendar. Conflicts should be made know now, so as not to interfere
with the progress of the production.
