Director's Bio |
ERIC HURST made his theatre debut at age 15, and has worked continuously as a director, producer, designer and performer ever since. Although his onstage appearances are rare these days, he has performed in dozens of plays, musicals and ballets; roles include JJ Hunsecker in Sweet Smell of Success, Captain Hook/Mr. Darling in Peter Pan, Arthur in Camelot, Henrik in A Little Night Music, and the title role in Sweeney Todd. Since founding Tallahassee’s Theatre A La Carte in 1990, Eric has been a constant advocate for the arts in general and community theatre in particular, has served as a long-time board member with the Florida Association of Community Theatres, and has worked with most of the theatre groups in the North Florida-South Georgia area. He and his staff of artists and technicians are known for producing some of the best and most-challenging musical theatre in the area, including the record-breaking Tallahassee productions of Seussical and Peter Pan, and Theatre A La Carte’s legendary Ragtime. Eric is known nationally as a director of the musicals of Stephen Sondheim, and has directed at least one production of most Sondheim musicals. A proud graduate of the FSU School of Theatre and College of Law, Eric supports his artistic endeavors as an attorney for a state agency. |
